Eligibility Criteria
1. Educational Qualification
- Candidates must possess the trade-specific qualification (B.Tech, B.Com, Diploma, B.Sc, ITI, MBA) as listed in the vacancy table above.
- Mode of Study: Only full-time regular courses are accepted. Distance Learning/Correspondence mode is NOT eligible.
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 in any organization are NOT eligible.
2. Age Limit (as on 15.03.2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 25 Years
- Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
- PwBD: 10 Years
Stipend & Benefits
Selected apprentices will receive:
- Monthly Stipend: As prescribed under the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and subsequent Government notifications.
- Food Coupon: ₹1,500/- per month.
- Note: This apprenticeship is for training only. There is no obligation for regular employment in IREL upon completion.
Selection Process
Selection will be merit-based.
- Merit List: Prepared based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination (Degree/Diploma/ITI).
- Priority Criteria: For tie-breaking, preference is given in the order: Land Affected Category, candidates from peripheral villages/wards of IREL employees, Ernakulam District, Kerala State, and then others.
- Document Verification & Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates must produce all original documents and be found medically fit.
How to Apply for IREL Apprenticeship 2026?
The application is a two-step process: Registration on Govt. Portals + Email submission to IREL.
Step 1: Register on Government Portal
- For Graduate/Technician Apprentices: Enroll/Register on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) portal: https://nats.education.gov.in.
- For Trade Apprentices: Register on the Ministry of Skill Development portal: https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.
Step 2: Apply to IREL & Send Email
- Download Form: Visit the IREL careers page at www.irel.co.in. Download the detailed notification and the prescribed Application Form (Annexure-A).
- Fill Form: Fill the form neatly. Paste a passport-size photograph.
- Prepare Scanned Package: Create a single PDF containing:
- Duly filled and signed Application Form (Annexure-A).
- Self-attested copies of all certificates:
- Proof of Age (10th Certificate/Birth Certificate).
- Educational Certificates: 10th, 12th, Degree/Diploma/ITI all mark sheets & final certificate.
- Caste/PwBD Certificate (if applicable) in prescribed format.
- Aadhaar Card.
- Nativity Certificate.
- Proof of Registration on NATS/Apprenticeship India portal.
