CIFNET Admission 2025-2026: Apply for Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) & Marine Fitter Course (MFC)

Applications for VNC/MFC courses at CIFNET are now available for the academic year 2025-2026. Those seeking to pursue their career in the shipping and fishing sector can now download the prospectus and the application form from the website of the Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training: www.cifnet.gov.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
Passed 10th grade with 40% in Mathematics and Science separately.
All students who are appearing for the 2025 10th examination are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit
15 to 20 years as of 1st August 2025
(Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates)

Course Intake Capacity per Center

• VNC: 20 Seats
• MFC: 20 Seats
• Total Seats: 120 (Kochi, Chennai & Visakhapatnam)
  • 16 Seats: Gen/Gen
  • 4 Seats: State Government/UT Sponsored (preferably representing fishermen community)

Selection Process

Mode: COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) – All India Basis
CET centers: Kochi, Chennai, Vis
CET Date: Saturday, 05 Jul 2025
Result Announcement: Monday, 14th July 2025 – Released at www.cifnet.gov

Counseling & Stipend
Centralised Counseling Date: 23rd July 2025 (Wednesday) at CIFNET Kochi

Stipend

• ₹1,500 per month throughout the course
• Post-Institutional Training (based on merit):
  • ₹20,500/- per month
  • One-time Uniform Allowance: ₹2,500/-
  • Bond to be executed by Applicant/Parent
