Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualification
To apply for the RBI Assistant post, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
- Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- General/OBC/EWS candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks (aggregate) in graduation.
- SC/ST/PwBD candidates must have a pass class in graduation (no minimum percentage requirement).
- Computer Knowledge: Candidates must have a working knowledge of computer systems, including word processing on PC.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the official language of the state/union territory for which they are applying is essential. For example, candidates applying for Kerala must be proficient in Malayalam.
For Ex-Servicemen: Minimum 15 years of service in the defense forces or recognition as an ex-serviceman.

RBI Assistant Salary 2026: In-Hand Pay and Benefits
The RBI Assistant post offers an excellent salary package with various allowances.
- Basic Pay: ₹29,000/- per month (in the scale of ₹29,000 – 78,640)
- Gross Emoluments (without HRA): Approximately ₹58,514/- per month.
- Allowances: Includes Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) @15%, Special Allowance, CCA, Transport Allowance, etc.
- Other Benefits: Loans at concessional rates, medical facilities, leave fare concession, pension, and more.

Selection Process
The selection for RBI Assistant will be done through a three-stage process:
- Preliminary Examination (Online): This is a qualifying exam consisting of Objective tests on English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. (100 marks, 60 minutes).
- Main Examination (Online): This is the main merit-based exam. It consists of Objective tests on Reasoning, English, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge (200 marks, 135 minutes).
- Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates who qualify the Main exam will have to undergo an LPT. This test is qualifying in nature. It will be conducted in the official language of the state applied for.
Final Merit: The final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination, provided the candidate qualifies in the Language Proficiency Test.
